Looking at the below images from the "Wild Bunch" movie (and the firearms), were those uniforms that the gang was wearing during the initial robbery scene accurate for the period?:

The uniforms worn in the movie were Army M-37 uniforms, in OD3 color (appears mustard brown).  These uniforms were in use prior to and into the early years of WW2.  The dead give away are the full front buttons on the shirts, rather than the half button pullover shirts of the 1912/1916 variety.

Hence the choice when getting your uniform items, period correct or Hollywood correct?

OK, so are these available as reproductions from some place or do I need to chase down originals?  Problem with originals is the average waist of a cav trooper was 29", so most stuff does not even come close to fitting.  I was a 29 in grade school, which makes me have to look for officers uniforms.  (and I'm not an officer I work for a living)

Perhaps the best place to go for Wild Bunch uniform items is Coon Creek Old West www.cooncreekoldwest.com , as they have one of the best looking uniforms that are available out there.  Another source is What Price Glory http://www.onlinemilitaria.net/ , as they also have a great selection of uniforms and equipment.  Another site is Schipperfabrik http://www.schipperfabrik.com/store/ , and also At the Front http://www.atthefront.com/ .

The same goes for Cowboy action shooting.  I either wear my 1870s uniform which includes from the head down, Kepi, Canvas pull over shirt or a period correct gray shirt that was made for me by Leta at Coon Creek, Canvas pants with Saddle seat also made by Leta for me, and EarthWalker Black Calvary Boots.

Or my turn of the century uniform, Montana Peak hat, Pull over tan military shirt, joplin pants and the same eathwalker boots(which are not a real part of the uniform since they had gone to the brown shoes/boots and canvas gaiters or even for some period they ad leather gaiters.

The only time the clothing is important is the side match where you are portraying one of the characters from the final scene of the movie, namely one of the four of the WIld Bunch not the other side since it is a four man/woman team event.
