SASS INDOOR WORLD CHAMPIONSHIP OF COWBOY ACTION SHOOTING
DECEMBER 6, 7 & 8, 2007

THE MATCH:
The SASS Indoor World Championship of Cowboy Action Shooting is a three-day, nine stage shooting competition to be held during the 6th Annual SASS Convention and Wild West Christmas December 6-9, 2007 at the Riviera Hotel in Las Vegas. Competitors will shoot provided firearms and wax bullets at steel targets in a variety of Cowboy Action Shooting scenarios. Competitors will be assigned to posses that will shoot in one of three shifts beginning on Thursday, December 6, early morning, late morning or afternoon. Shifts are broken down in to Red, White and Blue cycles and each competitor will shoot three consecutive stages per day, Thursday, Friday and Saturday. Awards will be presented on Sunday at the Convention Hall Stage.

Red - 8:30 - 10:30 a.m.
White - 10:30 a.m. - 12:30 p.m.
Blue - 1:30 - 3:30 p.m. - Territorial Governors Only

Switching or combining slots is NOT permitted.

The match is limited to the first 150 shooters and;

  • You must be a registered SASS Convention Conventioneer
  • You must be a SASS Member in good standing
  • Territorial Governors who wish to shoot must shoot the Blue Cycle - 1:30 - 3:30 p.m.

Entry Fee is $90 and includes all ammunition and firearms

MANDATORY SHOOTER SAFETY MEETINGS:
Mandatory Shooter Safety Meetings will take place on Thursday, December 6, thirty (30) minutes prior to each posse's first scheduled shoot time. For the Red Cycle - 8:30 - 10:30 a.m. the safety meeting will take place at 8:00 a.m., for the White Cycle - 10:30 a.m. - 12:30 p.m. the safety meeting will take place at 10:00 a.m. and for the Blue Cycle 1:30 - 3:30 p.m. the safety meeting will take place at 1:00. You are required to attend your designated safety meeting.

SHOOTING SUPPLIES:
You must be dressed in regulation attire and must wear your SASS badge at all times during the competition.

DO NOT BRING FIREARMS - All firearms will be supplied.
DO NOT BRING GUN LEATHER - All firearms will be staged.
DO NOT BRING AMMUNITION - All ammunition will be provided and is included in the price of your entry fee.

AMMUNITION:

Each stage will consist of 10 rounds of pistol, 9 rounds of rifle and 2 rounds of shotgun.

All pistols and rifles will be in .45 caliber. Pistols will shoot standard .45 caliber wax bullets using a standard large pistol primer as the propellant. All rifles will shoot .30 caliber wax bullets in a custom designed cartridge using a standard pistol primer as the propellant. All shotguns will be 12 gauge using a .45 caliber wax bullet and a standard shotgun primer as the propellant.

All components used in the competition remain the property of SASS. DO NOT pick up brass or attempt to remove spent brass or shells from the firing line. A match DQ will result for anyone who breaks this rule.

High primers are the responsibility of the shooter. Ammunition failures will be considered a hit target.

FIREARMS:
DO NOT BRING FIREARMS OR GUN LEATHER

Shooters will choose which firearms they wish to use at each stage from a selection of sponsored arms. All guns will be tuned to SASS accepted standards by a SASS selected gunsmith. A crew of designated armorers will insure guns are inspected after each use and cleared of any fouling caused by wax residual. YOU WILL SHOOT A DIFFERENT GUN FROM THE SAME MANUFACTURER AT EACH STAGE. ALL GUNS ARE SHARED AND MAINTAINED ON THE RANGE AND AFTER EVERY CYCLE.

Available firearms will include Colt and/or Colt Replica pistols, Ruger Vaquero and New Vaquero Pistols, 1866, 1873, 1892 Winchester and/or replica rifles, double barrel and 1897 Winchester and/or replica shotguns.

AWARDS
Awards will be presented for the top three competitors in each shooting category with an Overall Top Gun Champion trophy going to the top man and woman.

RANGE ACCESS
Only registered shooters and match officials have access to the range area (that is, inside the fence). This means your family and friends must watch from behind the safety fence. Only shooters with the corresponding colored badge may enter the range during their allotted time slot. No exceptions.

SHOOTER SCORING INFORMATION
Scores will be posted at the SASS Exhibitor Booth after the last shot of the day. If your scores appear to be in error, please report the matter to the Match Director. The Match Director will communicate directly with the scoring staff. Every effort will be made to correct the error as quickly as possible. Any shooter attempting to communicate directly with the scoring staff will be disqualified from the match.

SQUADDING
Squadding is performed at the discretion of SASS who will make every attempt to accommodate requests and pairings.

IMPORTANT: Range officers will not allow any posse to shoot out of squadded order. If you miss your assigned shooting time you will be DNF'd on that stage.
